The management of the Haxhi Zeka University in Peja (UHZ) held a meeting with representatives from the University of Iowa and USAID. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss in detail the next steps after the signing of the agreement for the implementation of the project: Collaboration with the Private Sector to Strengthen Higher Education.
The meeting was opened by the rector of UHZ, Prof. Dr. Armand Krasniqi, who briefly presented the history of UHZ, and then continued with the work that is currently being carried out in this institution. Among other things, the rector mentioned that Haxhi Zeka University has received a five-year accreditation from the Kosovo Accreditation Agency (KAA). This is the highest evaluation that a public university can receive from KAA.
The rector presented the university’s commitment to creating an integrated curriculum of studies. This is being done with the aim of increasing the mobility of students and UHZ staff. Additionally, it was emphasized in this meeting that students, with the program offerings of the faculties, will design their own diploma, thereby increasing the necessary skills required by the job market.
Among other things, Rector Krasniqi stated that the signing of the above-mentioned agreement is one of the best things that could happen at UHZ. This agreement provides strong links between the University-Government-Business. Also, the rector stressed that the expertise, commitment, dedication, strength, and tradition of the University of Iowa are more than necessary for UHZ and will help in achieving UHZ’s strategic objectives. All of these will have an impact on the continuous improvement and growth of the quality of work at the university, especially for the students of this institution.
On the other hand, the representatives from the University of Iowa expressed their appreciation for the signing of the agreement for the project. They also showed their willingness to collaborate closely, highly valuing the work that UHZ is doing.
