The Training programme for future young professionals from North Macedonia in Germany in 2021 – 2022 accomplished excellent outreach and had a significant impact, resulting in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) supporting a second phase. This time, the program is expanding to Kosovo and will be active from 01.07.2023 until 31.12.2024.
The program will execute its primary component in Germany (NRW) with the objective of addressing two major challenges in North Macedonia and Kosovo: youth unemployment and a shortage of skilled staff. The program aims to do so by furnishing young professionals with specialized knowledge in forward-looking economic sectors. Furthermore, participants will acquire valuable practical experience as they actively participate in the program.
The program will provide practical qualification opportunities for students (who will have completed at least the 5th semester by 02/2024), university graduates, apprentices (in their final year of training), graduates from technical high schools (colleges), and young professionals (with less than 1 year of work experience) who have aspirations to become future professionals and managerial staff in economic sectors critical for municipal services. Applicants should focus their future careers on one of the following areas: circular economy and recycling, water and wastewater management, energy supply and renewable energies, architecture, urban planning, and energy-efficient construction, digitalization and IT, business administration, environmental management, green economy, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, economics, and sustainable tourism.
The GIZ representatives in Skopje and Prishtina will conduct interviews with the pre-selected applicants in mid-September 2023. The qualification programme will shortlist the most convincing applicants. Nevertheless, these individuals must still undergo the matchmaking process with German companies/institutions. Moreover, they need to successfully complete a German language course at the Goethe Institute in Skopje. The training programme is scheduled to primarily occur in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) from March to May (August) 2024.
The application phase started on 01st July and will run until 31st August 2023.
