“Potamophylax humoinsapiens Ibrahimi & Bilalli” është lloj i ri për shkencën i zbuluar në Kosovë, është gjetur në lumin Lepenc në Parkun Kombëtar Mali Sharr. Punimi është publikuar në revistën prestigjioze Biodiversity Data Journal, e cila boton lloje të reja për shkencën. Pjesë e ekipit hulumtues ku është përshkuar ky lloj është edhe profesori nga Universiteti “Haxhi Zeka” Prof.ass.dr. Astrit Bilalli.
Emërtimi i llojit P. humoinsapiens është bërë nga dy fjalë latine: ‘humo’ që në shqip do të thotë ‘të mbulosh me dhe, të varrosësh’ dhe ‘insapiens’ që do të thotë ‘i pamatur, i pamençur’ dhe i referohet trajtimit të pamatur të habitateve ku është gjetur lloji i ri.
Ky lloj i takon një rendi të vogël të insekteve ujore, që janë të ndjeshme në ndotjen dhe degradimin e ekosistemeve ujore. Prania e këtij lloji tregon për pasurinë e madhe të biodiversitetit në Kosovë.

“Potamophylax humoinsapiens Ibrahimi & Bilalli” new species for science
“Potamophylax humoinsapiens Ibrahimi & Bilalli”, is a new species for science discovered in Kosovo, which was found in the Lepenc River in the National Park of Sharr mountain. This paper has been published in the prestigious journal Biodiversity Data Journal, which publishes new species for science.
The species epithet is a combination of two Latin words, ‘humo’, which in English means ‘to cover with soil, to bury’ and ‘insapiens’ meaning ‘unwise’ and refers to the unwise and careless treatment of habitats of the new species, degraded greatly during the past years by hydropower plants and other activities. In some segments, the whole parts of the Lepenc River are ‘buried’ in large pipes
This species belongs to a small order of aquatic insects that are sensitive to pollution and the degradation of aquatic ecosystems. The presence of this species highlights the richness of biodiversity in Kosovo.
